Another year, another Asian Gaelic Games and another huge weekend for the Singapore Gaelic Lions. The venue this year was the excellent Patana School in Bangkok over the weekend of 23rd and 24th November, the AGGs being held outside Kuala Lumpur for the first time since 2018.
The SGL turned out in force as usual, sending 5 Men’s Football teams, 3 Ladies’ Football teams, 2 Hurling teams and 1 Camogie team. Of the 8 grades the club entered, we took home the cups in 4 of them: Men’s Senior Football, Ladies’ Senior Football, Men’s Intermediate Football and Camogie. We also fielded the runner’s up in the Men’s Junior Football, Ladies’ Intermediate Football, Senior and Junior Hurling.
The club also picked up the Most Valuable Player for each of the 4 grades: Sean Flanagan for Men’s Football, Anita Fox for Ladies’ Football, Shane Ryan for Hurling and Sinead Kennedy for Camogie. Multiple other members of the club were awarded an All-Star for their efforts over the weekend.
A huge thank you to everyone involved with the SGL that made the weekend happen, those at the ACB for organising such a fantastic weekend, and of course to all of the players from all over Asia who took part.
