Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The Singapore Gaelic Lions did themselves proud once again, at the Asian Gaelic Games 2014 in Kuala Lumpur. Taking victories for both Senior Competitions and the Hurling, they also won the Ladies Intermediate Plate and were narrowly beaten in Men’s Intermediate and Ladies Junior Cup Finals.
There were a number of personal victories with 4 Ladies All-Star Footballers and an MVP for Rachel Maunsell in Camogie along with 4 Men’s All-Stars, 4 Hurling All-Stars and shock of the night, Gary Hanniffy collected MVP for Hurling.
The Cubs showed terrific skill and talent in their matches against Orang Eire and were watched under the auspices of Micheal O’Muircheartaigh no less. The next generation of Lions, getting ready to roar.
Huge thanks have got to go to the dedication and commitment from all the Coaches and ‘Back Room’ staff who pulled together over the course of the season to bring out the best of the squads over one weekend. Each player had their own personal battles; some with fitness, others with nerves, everyone with the heat. What made it so special was to watch as the individuals became teams, squads and one very noisy club.
Congrats once again and let the celebrations continue for weeks to come.
