The annual Alan Power Games took place on 27th August this year on a scorching hot Sunday at Dempsey. As usual, the day started with the soccer tournament featuring 5 teams, DHL Gaelic Lions, Gaelic Rebels, Hibernians, DHL and the SGL All Stars team. The SGL All Stars were the eventual winners, after a thrilling penalty shootout against the DHL Gaelic Lions in the final.
Kids and mixed adults GAA takes place in the afternoon, all in the spirt of good fun. But there’s always one who doesn’t see the lighter side of things and this years recipient of the Liam McGinley Dick of the Day award was none other than Aaron Costello. The Sweetcheeks were the GAA winners, with 2 wins and a draw on the day.
Huge thanks as always to Gareth O’Brien for organising the day from start to finish and making sure everyone got a stale Subway sandwich at some point or another. Rumour has it he is still calculating profits made from his cash only bar.
