SCC Dempsey, Singapore
The SGL’s annual memorial games to former club member Alan Power took place on the 15th of September in SCC Dempsey. An early shower of rain that morning didn’t dampen spirits, only the soccer pitch, leading to a very messy soccer game to start the day. This year the club held an in-house 60 minute game, won by the Green Machine and captain, Conor Walsh.
Kids games started at 1pm, and included rugby this year. The Tug Of War was the highlight of the day, the kids showing their strength and managing to pull the rope apart – twice!
Mixed GAA and hurling/camogie started later in the afternoon, this year being won by the Oranges, captained by Kevin McCabe and Roisin Brayden.
Big thanks to Ruairi Hatchell, Laurence Kearney and Ger Barry for helping to referee the matches throughout the day. Also thanks to club PRO, Leanna Crowley for the action shots throughout the day, the full collection is available here.
As ever, Gareth O’Brien deserves huge credit for pulling the day together and always buying more beer than needed. ( Trust a Cavan man to arrange for a free bar on someone else’s account)
